The information we may collect.

While using our website, you do not have to identify yourself or divulge personal information.  We do not collect personally identifiable information about you on this site without your knowledge, and all such information is collected directly from you. The Indiana Democratic Party may periodically ask you to provide personally identifying information such as your name, postal address, email address, credit/debit card information and other information about you.  You are under no obligation to provide us with this information.

How do we protect your information?

Our web site has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of your information in our database.  However, while we make good faith efforts to store information collected in a secure operating environment, we cannot guarantee complete security.

When you contribute online, the Indiana Democratic Party uses security protocols to protect sensitive data, such as personally identifiable information and credit card numbers. The privacy of this data is ensured with a keyed symmetric encryption algorithm. While this data is being transferred, it is protected by the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) using a 128-bit signed certificate.

How do we use the information you provide?

The Indiana Democratic Party uses the information we collect from you in an effort to engage you as an online activist, including by sending you news and information about the Indiana Democratic Party, accepting contributions, and for other purposes.  We will not sell, rent, trade, lend or otherwise share your personal information with other organizations for commercial purposes unless you agree otherwise.  Finally, we may disclose personally identifiable information when required by law or when we have a good faith belief that release is appropriate to protect our rights or property, or to protect our donors and supporters from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful conduct.

When you sign one of our petitions or surveys:

We treat your name, city, state, and any comments as public information. We may make comments along with your city and state available to the press and public online. We will not make your postal or email address publicly available, but we may share this information with the recipients of these petitions and thereafter the recipient may make these petitions public. If you are not already a member of the Indiana Democratic Party, we will use your email address to send you periodic updates and actions you can take to help Hoosier Democrats.

When you contribute money online or sign up for our mailing list:

We collect your name, postal address, email address and certain other information, such as your phone number when you contribute money online. If we do not already have your information on file, we will use your email address to send you periodic updates and actions you can take to help Indiana Democrats.

Data tracking:

Some information other than personally identifiable information may automatically be collected as you browse our site.  In order to consistently improve our online activities, we use cookies, track email open rates and periodically analyze our web traffic.    This information helps us improve the quality of the site and enhance our online promotion efforts.

A cookie is a tiny text file that is stored on your computer by indems.org. We use cookies to tailor your experience on our site according to the preferences you have specified. When you visit indems.org we only access the cookie file that we have stored on your computer.
