Dan Parker calls on Richard Mourdock to end bizarre political campaign
Says that taxpayers can't afford another needless lawsuit

INDIANAPOLIS - In response to Richard Mourdock's recent comments in an interview given to Business Week, Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker called for Treasurer Richard Mourdock to spare the state another ideological crusade.

"It's like deja vu all over again," Parker said. "It's almost unbelievable that after wasting at least $2 million on Mourdock's Folly, we're actually talking about a sequel."

In the article entitled, "Indiana Funds May Not Be Done with Chrysler," Mourdock freely admits that he is personally opposed to the federal government's efforts to save the domestic automotive industry, and compares himself to John Wayne while stating that he might pursue further legal action because "t's about more than Chrysler and Indiana."

As one legal scholar in the article notes, even if Mourdock were to win, it would not benefit the state coffers or get back the millions already spent by the Treasurer's Office.

"We've known since the beginning that this whole mess has more to do with Richard Mourdock than it does the taxpayers he has pledged to protect," Parker added. "There are tens of thousands of people in Indiana that depend on a healthy automotive industry, and to think that Mourdock would endanger those hardworking Hoosiers and have us foot the bill again is absurd."

"I'm sure Richard Mourdock enjoys seeing himself in the newspaper, but it would be nice if he could put his personal politics aside and make a name for himself as someone who is a responsible steward of taxpayer money."
