Statement by Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker
on State Treasurer Richard Mourdock and Chrysler sale
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker released the following statement in reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to temporarily stay the sale of Chrysler's assets:
"I was saddened to learn this afternoon that the legal maneuverings of state officials have delayed the preservation of Chrysler. With every passing day, the future looks bleaker for the thousands of Hoosiers and tens of thousands of Americans who depend on this company for their livelihood.
"At the urging of Gov. Mitch Daniels, State Treasurer Richard Mourdock has pursued a partisan campaign against President Barack Obama on the taxpayer dime. In doing so, jobs and pensions now hang in the balance, and the legal bills continue to pile up.
"As Mourdock and Daniels continue to spend millions of dollars in this effort, it's clear they've chosen personal politics over protecting the hardworking Hoosiers who see a new beginning in a revitalized Chrysler.
"This lawsuit is a clear lose-lose for the state of Indiana, and it is long past time that Mr. Mourdock and Governor Daniels stop playing games with Hoosier jobs."
