Hill has raised over 1.4 million dollars

Ninth District Democrat well positioned for 2008 race

INDIANAPOLIS - Ninth District U.S. Rep. Baron Hill raised nearly $280,000 in the first quarter, according to pre-primary reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Hill has raised $1,480,000 to date and currently has about $1,000,000 on hand.

Hill has about a $700,000 cash on hand lead over his republican opponent, Mike Sodrel.

Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker again pointed out that in addition to Hill's independent record of getting things done for Hoosiers, his huge cash lead and the national environment will make it very hard for Sodrel to gain any traction.

"Congressman Hill has been working hard, and his efforts show in these numbers and in his successes for his constituents," Parker said. "With limited Republican funds at the national level, Sodrel may be forced to buy his own way back into the race once he realizes people are tired of his antics."

The wealthy Sodrel, who has made much of his fortune off of US Postal Service contracts, has spent over $1,000,000 of his own money in past races and his previous campaign committees remain in debt.

"Ninth District voters know Baron Hill represents their interests in Washington, and I fully expect them to send him back," Parker said.
