The Indiana Democratic Party (IDP) is hiring a State House Field Manager to support targeted state house campaigns in the field throughout Central Indiana. The role is ideal for someone looking to be more involved in politics and who wants to dedicate themselves to learning more about the inner workings of campaigns, strategic planning, and targeting direct voter contact. This is an important role in breaking the supermajority and building back a fair and equitable two party system of government in Indiana.
State House Field Manager
● Work closely with IDP’s Organizing and Data departments towards the efforts of recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to expand the volunteer network for targeted state house campaigns across central Indiana.
o Targeted races are identified by IDP staff
o Success towards these goals will be measured by metrics set by IDP
● Field Managers will manage and execute voter contact events such as phone banks, text banks, friend banks,
canvasses, voter registration drives, and days of action.
o Some coordination with local leadership will be required to successfully schedule and execute field
events.
● Work with the Data team to use VAN to create lists, “cut turf,” and utilize other features to maximize success of
engagement with targeted Hoosier voters.
● Escalate any feedback from the volunteers and/or campaigns to IDP leadership so we can adjust strategy (if necessary) and best address the needs of the district.
● Work with IDP Communication’s department to implement new communications, messaging, and digital
strategies to increase local engagement and resonate with voters in the targeted state house districts.
● Keep volunteer team focused and motivated during fluctuating work schedules and environments (heavy
campaign seasons and low times).
● Consistently meet stated deadlines and communicate with IDP and Indiana House Democratic Caucus leadership
regularly.
Successful candidates will have:
● Commitment to the election of Democrats up and down the ballot
● Organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and as part of a team
● Adaptable to changing needs and program priorities
● Positive attitude required
● Previous political campaign experience a plus, but not necessary
