The 2026 State Democratic Convention will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the Indiana Marriott Downtown (350 W Maryland St, Indianapolis, IN 46225) and Indiana Convention Center in Downtown Indianapolis. Delegates will attend this convention from all 92 counties and gather to approve the Party platform, do Party business, and select the Party’s 2026 nominees for three statewide offices: Secretary of State, State Treasurer, and State Comptroller (last elected as State Auditor in 2022).
State Delegates are the only people eligible to vote at State Convention (Saturday, June 6). Delegates will vote on:
- Candidates up for nomination: Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Comptroller
- Representation to State Convention Committees (Credentials, Resolutions, and Rules)
- The 2026 Indiana Democratic Party Platform
Types of Delegates:
- Automatic: Members of the State Central Committee, District Secretaries and Treasurers as of Nov. 15, 2025. And County Chairs, Vice Chairs, Secretaries and Treasurers.
- Elected: Elected at the May 5, 2026 Primary election.
- Appointed: Appointed by a county chair due to vacant elected delegate spots on the primary ballot.
- Alternate: An alternate may attend the Convention but will only vote if a delegate cannot attend or is not present during voting.
Resolutions Procedure:
a) Both the Temporary and Permanent Resolutions Committee members may sponsor a resolution. Members do not need to fulfill the signature requirement as outlined in b.
b) Delegates wishing to offer a resolution for consideration may submit a proposal to be considered by the Temporary Resolutions Committee. Such resolutions require a minimum of 550 delegate signatures and must be submitted by Wednesday, June 3, 2026 by 5 P.M. to [email protected].
c) In order to give adequate time for obtaining signatures, a delegate wishing to submit a resolution may request from the State Chair the final list of delegates that was provided to candidates by the May 29 deadline.
d) Temporary Resolutions Committee shall meet on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 3 P.M. and shall prepare a report for the Permanent Resolutions Committee. Resolutions considered by the Temporary Resolutions Committee and found to be meritorious by a two-thirds majority of the members shall be included in the Report of the Resolutions Committee.
e) The Permanent Resolutions Committee shall meet on June 6, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. The Permanent Resolutions Committee shall consider all resolutions in the report, but they may also consider other resolutions offered by the Permanent Resolutions Committee. The Permanent Resolutions Committee may ratify or amend the report by a two-thirds majority.
Time commitment: While there will be activities on Friday, including the Hoosier Hospitality Dinner, to round out “Big Dem Weekend 2026,” the main commitments of a delegate will start with credentialing the morning of Convention—Saturday, June 6—and ends late afternoon or early evening depending on how long general session lasts.
