Indiana Economy on the Brink as US Suffers Greatest Number of Layoffs Since 2009.
Thursday, Challenger, Gray & Christmas released a new report on the number of layoffs last year, which found that there were over 108,000 layoffs across the U.S. in January.
Donald Trump and Indiana Republicans have thrown Indiana’s economy into crisis as Trump’s chaotic tariffs and economic policies raise costs for working families and small businesses, unemployment rises, and inflation remains high.
In response, Indiana Democratic Chair Karen Tallian released the following statement:
“Over 20 years of GOP rule have completely wrecked Indiana’s economy. While thousands more are struggling under skyrocketing costs and high inflation. Across the country, nearly 110,000 have lost their jobs this month alone, but Republicans refuse to change course. The Indiana GOP has no respect for working people. While Republicans turn their backs on working families, Indiana Democrats won’t stop fighting to create jobs and lower costs for Hoosier families.”
