Hoosier Delegates Attend the Democratic National Convention and Nominate Kamala Harris and Tim Walz
This week, Chicago played host to the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The four-day event featured speakers such as Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Pete Buttigieg, Shawn Fain, and of course, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz: The now official Democratic nominees for President and Vice President of the United States.
The Roll Call was on Tuesday, during which time delegates ceremoniously announced their votes. When Indiana’s turn came, Gary native Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” filled the United Center, celebrating the Hoosier State’s nomination for the Harris-Walz administration to lead our nation forward. Actor Sean Astin, who played Rudy in ‘Rudy’ and Bob in Stranger Things, helped us deliver our votes for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz!
Indiana Is Way Behind on Education
Hoosiers have been failed by twenty years straight of one-party Republican administrations. They have disinvested in communities across the state and the largest driver for upward mobility for all: public education.
The results are that Indiana ranks 46th overall in education, and most of your tax dollars on K-12 education go to largely unaccountable charter schools instead of your neighborhood schools.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
On August 19, U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan (D-1) announced the Munster Police Department was to receive $215,000 to upgrade its technology and equipment, with the goal of improving the Department’s efficiency, allowing its members to take on more cases.
“We can always count on Congressman Mrvan to deliver for Munster. Frank has a servant’s heart and has always been a friend and supporter to law enforcement throughout my entire career, and this funding demonstrates his commitment to first responders and public safety,” Munster Police Chief Stephen Scheckel stated in a press release.
State Rep. Chuck Moseley is prepared to continue his work on behalf of all Hoosiers working, playing, and living in Indiana’s 10th District. He was first elected in 2008, and throughout his tenure in the General Assembly he has become known for focusing on veteran’s affairs, having authored numerous bills concerned with providing accessible and affordable health care for veterans with PTSD.
