Early Voting Open Across Indiana for May Primary
This week, early voting opened all across the state for the May primary election. Voting early is the perfect way to cast your ballot before Election Day, and make sure you’ve done your civic duty. You never know what may come up on Election Day!
All registered Hoosiers can view early voting locations and hours for their county at indianavoters.com in the voter portal. You can also sign up for an absentee ballot by mail via the portal as well. You can vote at any early voting location in the county in which you’re registered.
Make sure to cast your vote for Jennifer McCormick to continue the momentum heading into the summer!
Court of Appeals Affirms Abortion Ban Violates Hoosiers’ Religious Freedoms
The Indiana Court of Appeals upheld a ruling late last week that allows for a religious exemption to the Republican near-total abortion ban for Hoosiers with deeply held beliefs that their faith allows care when the ban doesn’t.
This ruling is huge, and affirms that the state cannot violate the religious rights of Hoosiers who seek reproductive care for that reason. The ruling also affirms the case as a class action. However, its full impact will be determined by future rulings.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
South Shore trains ran this week between Gary and Michigan City for the first time in over a year. It’s the culmination of the double tracking project led by Hoosier Democrats, including Congressman Frank Mrvan.
This project added 14 extra trains per week to Chicago, and updated stations and parking lots across the network.
