One Party Supermajority Rule is Bad for Indiana
This week, IDP Chair Mike Schmuhl had the opportunity to address Hoosier voters in an op-ed to the Indianapolis Star. In it, he makes the case that the Republican supermajority is unaccountable and out of touch with the needs and wants of everyday Hoosiers.
You can read Chairman Mike Schmuhl’s op-ed in the IndyStar this week about why it’s so important we break the supermajority and elect Jennifer McCormick this fall. Next week, we’ll be bringing this message directly to Hoosiers when we launch our Break the Supermajority Tour in Carmel. We know that Hoosiers are fed up with the attacks on women’s rights, public education, and our drinking water, and we are providing an alternative.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
This week we’re featuring the work of State Rep. Victoria Garcia Wilburn (Fishers). This session, she responded to the crisis in Indiana DCS by passing bipartisan language in an amendment to protect 18-21 year olds leaving the program and starting adulthood, and protects Hoosier taxpayers who fund the program.
Rep. Garcia Wilburn knows how important solving the DCS crisis is, and won’t stop until every Hoosier child has the protections they need.
Honoring the Life of State Senator Jean Breaux
This week, we were saddened by the news of the passing of Indiana State Senator Jean Breaux of Indianapolis. Jean was an incredible leader in the Senate, and we’re eternally grateful for her leadership for the City of Indianapolis. Please view tributes to her life from Hoosier Democrats below.
