Democratic Lawmakers Push Diego Morales for Accountability at Statehouse
With the legislative session well underway, Democrats are wasting no time holding Republicans to account and standing up for transparency and putting taxpayers first.
This week, Rep. Ed DeLaney questioned Secretary of State Diego Morales on why his office is using taxpayer dollars to give out millions in no-bid contracts to political donors, the most spot bonuses in the state, and why he hired his brother-in-law to a newly created six-figure position. You can watch for yourself here.
Democrats will keep fighting for answers and holding Republican leadership accountable. From the $1 billion Medicaid shortfall to the misuse of taxpayer dollars by Diego Morales, Hoosiers deserve real answers.
Braun Signs Executive Order to Release Medical Records of Victims
Governor Mike Braun signed a series of executive orders on Thursday, including one making the state’s Terminated Pregnancy Reports public records. The state’s public access counselor warned against this practice last year, saying reports could be “reverse engineered” to identify individual Hoosiers.
This is nothing more than a dangerous move by Governor Braun to allow political activists to see the medical records of rape and incest victims, as well as those who had to have an abortion to save their life.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
Share State Senator Shelli Yoder
State Senator Shelli Yoder successfully passed SB 176 out of the Senate and onto the House. This bill opens up more opportunities for Hoosiers to serve as nurses and targets Indiana’s healthcare shortage. The bill’s next stop is House consideration.
