Join the Hoosiers for Harris Movement
This week, INDems launched Hoosiers for Harris, a new grassroots project and website to promote Kamala Harris’s historic bid for the presidency.
The site is dedicated to mobilizing Hoosier voters and growing grassroots support for Kamala Harris across Indiana. The platform – HoosiersForHarris.Vote – allows people to sign up to volunteer, opt in for text updates, donate to the Harris-Walz ticket and the Indiana Democrats, buy exclusive merchandise, and ensure their voter is accurate. We invite you to check it out and lend your support ahead of the election!
Republican LG Candidate Micah Beckwith Only Promises Chaos
This week, Republican Lieutenant Governor candidate Micah Beckwith was a guest on a rightwing Christian podcast hosted by two sisters self-titled “the Resistance Chicks.” During the podcast, Micah discussed the role of lieutenant governor and argued that it should have more power than it is given:
“In that moment when [LG Suzanne Crouch] said the governor appointed me, I heard the lord say ‘force the conversation. Who does this office belong to?’ …We have unjustly taken the authority away from the people and given it to the governor, and that’s still a sin against God.”
Mike Braun may say Beckwith shouldn’t be of concern to Hoosiers, but everyday it becomes clearer: a vote for Braun is a vote for Beckwith.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
On September 12, U.S. Rep. André Carson announced that President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was giving $19.9 million to the city of Indianapolis and IndyGo. Indianapolis was one out of 254 total communities that was selected to receive part of the $1 billion grant.
The money will be used to make much-needed roadway improvements and add sidewalks and trails to select areas of the city. It will also improve preexisting IndyGo bus stops.
“The transformative investment in our City’s infrastructure is another example of Indy DPW’s relentless approach to finding additional resources to make a positive impact in our community,” Indianapolis Department of Public Works Director Brandon Herget said in an article from the Indianapolis Recorder.
