GOP Plan to Eliminate Income Tax Will Hurt Indiana
Indiana Republicans in the state legislature continue to tout plans to abruptly end the state income tax. Their rushed plan to end the tax, without any new sources of funding, may devastate Indiana’s economy. Experts believe that ending the income tax will hurt Indiana’s strong bond rating. Suzanne Crouch and Travis Holdman have been advocates for ending the tax without any proposals on how to make up the $8 billion dollars shortfall. The GOP’s plan is irresponsible.
Indiana Democrats will continue to fight for fiscally responsible policies that benefit Hoosier families, not the wealthy few. Democrats will protect Indiana’s bond rating and support tax policies that work for the middle and working class.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett is an Indiana Democrat leading the way to create a better future for Hoosier families. Mayor Hogsett’s budget proposal passed unanimously last week and promises record investments in public safety, infrastructure, and a new office for equity and inclusion. The comprehensive plan will transform communities and make the city and state a better place to live for all Hoosiers. It includes record investment in public safety, violence prevention, neighborhood improvement, and more.
