On Monday, the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission filed a misconduct complaint against Republican Attorney General Todd Rokita. The complaint came after Rokita was interviewed on extreme Fox News, and he made comments about a lawsuit involving a ten year old rape victim who received abortion care in Indiana. Indiana law prohibits attorneys involved in investigations from making public comments that may affect judicial proceedings.
Rokita is the second consecutive Indiana Republican Attorney General to be charged with misconduct. Before him, AG Curtis Hill was found to have committed multiple incidents of sexual misconduct. Next year, we can retire Rokita.
Green Energy Jobs Growing in Every State Thanks to Democratic Investments
This week, a new report was released showing a record number of Hoosiers employed in the clean energy industry. In 2022, there were more than 88,400 Indiana jobs related to clean energy, a 3.7 percent increase from 2021. This news comes on the heels of President Biden and Democrats in Congress passing the Inflation Reduction Act in August of last year, which led to significant investments in Indiana clean energy projects.
The Inflation Reduction Act and other policies under President Biden will continue to create record investment in communities across the state in the industries of the future.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
Share State Representative Maureen Bauer
This week, State Rep. Maureen Bauer (South Bend) was featured in a USA TODAY article for her leadership on HEA 1219, legislation providing resources for firefighters and retired firefighters to get tested for dangerous chemicals they may have been exposed to in the line of duty. Rep. Bauer drafted the legislation after three firefighters in South Bend passed away from brain cancer related to occupational hazards.
Thanks to Rep. Bauer’s commitment to the health of Hoosiers, HEA 1219 passed and went into effect in July. Indiana firefighters now have better access to potentially lifesaving blood tests, and Rep. Bauer’s leadership looks to inspire policy action across the nation.
