The voter registration deadline is coming up. You must register to vote on or before this Tuesday, October 10th to vote in this year’s elections. Hoosiers can register online through Tuesday at indianavoters.in.gov or in-person at their county’s voter registration office or the Indiana Election Division with the appropriate paperwork. This is also a great chance to check your registration if you have moved or changed names. Everyone should check their registration before the deadline.
Jim Banks Endorses Extreme Jim Jordan for Speaker
After the United States House devolved into chaos from Republicans mutinying their own Speaker, Indiana Rep. Jim Banks voiced his support for far-right extremist Jim Jordan as the next Speaker. Jordan has a record of spreading dangerous conspiracy theories, attacking teachers, advocating for a nationwide ban on abortion, trying to overturn marriage equality, and working to defund essential law enforcement agencies that protect Hoosiers from dangerous crime.
Hoosiers deserve better than the current GOP-led chaos in Congress. Jim Banks wants a promotion to the U.S. Senate next year, but from trying to stop military promotions to pushing for an extremist Speaker, his actions show that he’s simply not serious about governing.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
As a government shutdown seemed all but inevitable, Democrats in Congress worked across party lines last week to pass a continuing resolution which would keep the government running. Thanks to the responsible and effective leadership of congressional Democrats, including Reps. Mrvan and Carson, the important business of the federal government could continue. Hoosiers avoided furloughs and still have access to essential services from the federal government in Indiana because of Democrats’ commitment to the nation.
