Wendy Dant Chester Named New State Representative
Community leader Wendy Dant Chester was elected unanimously by a caucus of precinct committeepersons in District 71. She has extensive experience fighting for the people of Southern Indiana. Wendy served as the president and CEO of the economic development organization and chamber of commerce for Floyd and Clark Counties, One Southern Indiana for ten years. In the role she brought millions of dollars to the area to support hundreds of businesses.
Rep. Dant Chester looks to continue the legacy of Rep. Rita Fleming in the Statehouse, who was a bipartisan problem solver for families in the district.
New Lawsuit Challenges State Abortion Ban
A new lawsuit was launched this week against the near-total abortion ban in Indiana. It argues that women are not able to receive the care they need, and were previously able to access before the ban.
Families should not be forced into the impossible decision of ignoring their doctor’s orders or going to another state to get care. We will continue to advocate strongly for the repeal and overturn of this ban. Electing Jennifer McCormick as our next governor sends that message.
Each week, the State Party will highlight key policy from Democrats at the Statehouse or across the state. Democrats deliver a better future for Hoosier families, and we urge you to share this information with your networks.
State House candidate Matt McNally served his country in uniform, and knows it’s unacceptable that Indiana has the fourth-worst veteran suicide rate in the country. Matt is running to represent parts of Carmel and Westfield in Hamilton County.
He is running to help address veterans issues, and build a state that truly supports all those who served. He’ll stand up to make sure veterans in Indiana have access to the best healthcare, including vital mental health services.
