INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody issued the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office estimated the Senate GOP’s health care bill would lead to 22 million Americans losing their healthcare by 2026.
“Today’s CBO score confirms what we already knew: this bill threatens access to health care coverage for millions of Americans. You don’t need to be an economist to see how this bill will mean higher premiums for working families or that cutting more than $800 billion from Medicaid will gut HIP 2.0 and eliminate critical tools in the fight against Indiana’s opioid epidemic, not to mention numerous other program critical to Hoosier families. Instead of reaching across the aisle to work with Democrats and strengthen our nation’s healthcare system, Republicans are so desperate to score political points that they’ll view taking away health care from tens of millions of Americans as a victory.”
