INDIANAPOLIS – Concerned Hoosiers welcomed Rep. Braun back to Indiana for his first campaign stops in over three weeks by reminding voters of his history of importing and selling cheap foreign auto parts outside his events in Lafayette and La Porte today.

Rep. Braun held two campaign events in Lafayette and La Porte today, his first stops since the end of his vacation and his first campaign events in Indiana since June 11. Hoosiers were on hand outside both of his events to greet him with Chinese flags and remind voters of his long record of profiting off of cheap imports from China at the expense of Hoosier workers.

Rep. Braun has staked his Senate bid on Meyer Distributing, but he made $18 million in profits last year alone from that company while it habitually relied on foreign manufacturers who make their parts in China and other countries. While Rep. Braun claims he uses American manufacturers, the Associated Press revealed that dozens of companies listed on his supplier sheet are either foreign-based or make their products in China, Mexico and other countries. The company itself has also received multiple shipments of parts from China.

“Hoosiers didn’t forget about the significant profits Rep. Braun has made selling cheap auto parts from China at the expense of Hoosier manufacturers during his three-week absence,” said Michael Feldman, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “Voters are glad to finally have Rep. Braun back in Indiana so he can give them the explanation they deserve about why he thinks the millions of dollars in profits he made last year from selling Chinese parts entitles him to represent Hoosiers in the Senate.”
