More than 77-percent of Americans – including Republicans – support the American Rescue Plan
Washington Post: “The national debt has risen by almost $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office”
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today released the following statement after Republican Members of Indiana’s congressional delegation joined U.S. Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young by voting against the American Rescue Plan and additional relief for struggling Hoosier families during the COVID-19 pandemic, a measure which more than 77-percent of Americans support:
“By voting against the American Rescue Plan and COVID-19 relief for Hoosier families, Indiana Republicans like Jim Banks, Jackie Walorski, and Trey Hollingsowrth revealed themselves as moral hypocrites – because these elected officials allowed $7.8 trillion to be added to the national debt without saying a word. This includes a $2 trillion vote for tax cuts for our nation’s most wealthy. The Indiana Republican Party is a political party with absolutely no vision for Indiana and its families, and this cold-hearted vote to dismiss Indiana’s struggling families is why Hoosiers should not trust them.” – Lauren Ganapini, Executive Director for the Indiana Democratic Party

Indiana Republicans within the state’s congressional delegation now voted twice against the American Rescue Plan, with the first vote occurring on February 27, 2021.
U.S. Senator Todd Young supported and voted for former President Donald Trump’s tax law, which added $2 trillion to the national debt.
The four years of the Trump Administration added about $7.8 trillion to the national debt total, far more than any president in recent memory.
