INDIANAPOLIS – If Congressman Todd Young had his way, 100,000 Hoosier workers would have lost their jobs. His out-of-touch position to oppose the bipartisan auto rescue—which was supported by Sen. Richard Lugar and President George W. Bush, who signed the auto rescue into law—could have devastated Indiana’s local communities.

The auto rescue under President Bush’s executive order helped protect Hoosier workers during the worst recession since the Great Depression. And Congressman Todd Young? He called it “a waste.”

“Today, Congressman Todd Young will stand next to President Bush to raise money, but when it counted most, he advocated against saving 100,000 Hoosier jobs, leaving him in direct opposition to the President and Indiana,” said John Zody, Chairman. “Congressman Young’s policies go against what’s best for Hoosier workers. Indiana cities and towns would have been wiped out if not for the bipartisan auto rescue. But yet, Congressman Young’s loud opposition to the auto rescue, his promotion of bad trade deals, and refusal to aid Hoosiers who are victims of outsourcing defines him as an out-of-touch politician. Workers across our state are looking for someone better than that who will protect their jobs and who isn’t afraid to work with both parties to do what’s best for Hoosiers.
