INDIANAPOLIS – With just five days to go till Election Day, Congressman Todd Young still refuses to answer for his continued support of outsourcing companies at the expense of Hoosier workers.
Beyond his consistent support for job-killing trade deals that fail to protect the Indiana workforce, Congressman Young stood with his big money Washington backers and voted to protect tax breaks for companies who ship Indiana jobs overseas.
At the same time, he voted against funding for the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program, which provides job training and assistance to Hoosier workers, like those at Carrier and Rexnord, who have lost their jobs due to outsourcing. Congressman Young even took donations from Carrier after they announced they were laying off more than 1,400 Hoosier workers in Indianapolis.
This strikes a familiar pattern for Congressman Young of putting the needs of the corporate special interests ahead of Hoosier workers.
Here are just some of the questions he has failed to answer for Hoosiers who deserve a Senator who will stand up for them:
– Why does he believe companies should be able to write off the expenses for moving Indiana jobs overseas?
– Why does he opposes funding the TAA program, which has helped more than 20,000 displaced Hoosiers workers get back on their feet since he entered Congress in 2010?
– Why does he think companies deserve a tax-payer funded tax break for sending Hoosiers jobs overseas, but Hoosier workers don’t deserve assistance when their job is outsourced?
– Why won’t he give back the money he received from Carrier’s parent company after it announced it was shipping thousands of Indiana jobs to Mexico?
