INDIANAPOLIS – Rep. Braun has yet to comment on the latest push by Republican allies to dismantle the nation’s health care system, even as he’s supported previous efforts to roll back health protections and make care more expensive for Hoosiers.
The Wall Street Journal reported today that Republicans are launching yet another attempt to dismantle the health care system. Their latest push to roll back protections and make health care more expensive for millions of Americans comes on the heels of the GOP’s lawsuit to render protections for pre-existing conditions unconstitutional and strip coverage from millions of Hoosiers and millions more Americans with a pre-existing condition.
Rep. Braun hasn’t weighed in on the GOP’s latest effort to sabotage the health care markets. However, it would be no surprise if he sided with his GOP allies, just as he did last week when he failed to stand up for Hoosiers with pre-existing conditions. Rep. Braun has vocally supported the GOP’s repeated acts of health care sabotage, including last year’s failed Republican health care overhaul that would have raised premiums for the average Hoosier by $1,000 annually. As a member of the Indiana Assembly, Rep. Braun also voted against legislation that would have codified HIP 2.0.
“The GOP has concocted yet another way to dismantle the health care system, and millions of Hoosiers are looking to Rep. Braun to see if he’ll finally break with his party and side with them,” said Michael Feldman, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “Hoosiers already know Rep. Braun has supported his party’s health care sabotage time and again; failing to speak out once more against his allies’ actions is a reminder that he’d rather dismantle the nation’s health care system than defend Hoosiers at risk of losing their coverage.”
