Todd Young a part of the bipartisan group to reform the Electoral Count Act
Senator Young flip flopped on The Jobs Act, nonpartisan January 6 commission to avoid upsetting Donald Trump – same playbook to follow with election reform
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today asked the media to not buy into U.S. Senator Todd Young’s performative stunts about “compromise” or “bipartisanship”, because he’ll bail on the effort at the last possible moment. The latest example is the ongoing conversation to reform the Electoral Count Act and protect the foundations of our nation’s democracy from another insurrection attempt against the United States. Young will get the media attention he wants, and then flip-flop just before the vote to save face from former President Donald Trump.
When it comes to the Indiana GOP’s culture wars, Senator Young wants to have his cake and eat it too. He did this last summer with The Jobs Act. Young paraded himself around the media during negotiations for transformative infrastructure investments, and then just before the vote, he flipped and voted “NO” to stave off a primary challenger for his reelection. Todd Young also backtracked on his stance with the January 6 Insurrection. After penning an op-ed criticizing supporters of Donald Trump, Young flipped a voted “NO” on forming a nonpartisan commission to get to the bottom of the domestic terrorist attack at the U.S. Capitol.
Simply put: Todd Young’s statements and efforts in Washington should be taken with a grain of salt, because he’ll put the Indiana Republican Party’s culture wars ahead of creating a better future for families every single time.
