INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today criticized Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Republican Party for the looming economic panic their effort to outlaw abortion will have on the Hoosier State. In case you missed it, Senate Bill 1 will make getting an abortion against the law for women and little girls who do not meet its draconian standards. Since Holcomb signed SB1 at the dead of night, Indiana’s major employers, community leaders, and tourism organizations all confirmed what Hoosiers knew: the state’s D- rated workforce and F-rated quality of life rankings will get worse, because the Indiana GOP put their extremist agenda before Indiana’s future.
Don’t take our word for it, here’s what Indiana’s top leaders are saying about Governor Eric Holcomb’s choice to put in the worst form of government overreach and make abortion access against the law:
Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton: “Yet another huge step backwards for our country. Shame on the leaders and lawmakers who think they have the power over women’s bodies.”
Fox59: Eli Lilly to seek employment growth outside of Indiana after abortion ban
“One of the largest employers and oldest companies in Indiana will begin looking for expansion opportunities outside of the Hoosier State in the wake of a recently passed abortion ban bill.
Eli Lilly and Co. released a statement Saturday that said the abortion ban may hurt the company’s ability to bring in “diverse scientific, engineering and business talent” to Indiana.”
“Given this new law, we will be forced to plan for more employment growth outside our home state.”
WISH-TV: “Visit Indy predicts that the measure’s passing will cause negative waves in the coming years for the state.”
“Based on feedback from counterparts in other major cities with similar legislation, SB1 will have a negative impact on tourism in Central Indiana…”
