Eric Holcomb: “Let’s not wait and instead send a billion bucks back now”
Don’t Forget: Governor Holcomb and Indiana GOP have waited 41 days (and counting) to deliver relief to Hoosiers, delayed special session three times
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today criticized Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Republican Party for being partisan hypocrites on their proposed inflation relief payments. In an op-ed, Holcomb called for the General Assembly to send checks to Hoosiers “now” – but if Republicans truly cared about global inflation, they would’ve gotten this done last month. In fact, the Indiana GOP has delayed this relief *three times* and for 41 days and counting – all while Hoosier families are struggling to make ends meet during worldwide inflation.
Instead, Governor Holcomb and the Indiana GOP have made their upcoming special session focused more on passing an abortion ban. They will put their extremist agenda ahead of creating a better future for Hoosiers across the state.
Indiana Democrats have provided plans to help combat global inflation. Statehouse leaders have repeatedly called on the state to pause its gas tax, which would provide immediate and direct relief to Hoosiers. And in Washington, Democrats like André Carson and Frank Mrvan supported policies that would ease the cost of goods for Hoosiers – including passing The Jobs Act, capping insulin at $35 dollars a month, and holding oil companies accountable for price gouging.
It’s simple: Democrats are delivering for Hoosiers while the Indiana GOP is dividing communities with an extremist agenda.

The special session was originally scheduled for July 6, but after coordination with Governor Eric Holcomb, House Speaker Todd Huston and Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray now plan to convene on July 25.”
