Fast-forward four years, Eric Holcomb supports Donald Trump following sexual assault comments too
INDIANAPOLIS – Even before Donald Trump, Eric Holcomb supported someone else who horrifically condoned sexual assault and rape on Hoosier women – Richard Mourdock.
That’s right. In 2012, Richard Mourdock said that when pregnancy resulted from rape that it was what “God intended” to happen to women. Where was Eric Holcomb? As Republican State Party Chairman, he stood by Mourdock and supported the rest of his campaign, moving “full steam ahead.”
Eric Holcomb’s history foreshadowed his recent choice to continue his support for Donald Trump – even after the presidential nominee bragged about sexual assault on women.
“Eric Holcomb has shown that he’s willing to put party over country – and also over Hoosier women. By condoning comments about sexual assault made by Richard Mourdock four years ago – and now by Donald Trump, this leaves Hoosiers wondering how he would prioritize things if elected governor,” said John Zody, Chairman. “Hoosier women shouldn’t be worried about whether public officials support their overall health and safety over political ambition.”

Holcomb Defended Mourdock Standing By His Statement That Pregnancies From Rape Were “Something God Intended.” According to the Associated Press, “Indiana Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said Wednesday that he is standing by his statement that when a woman becomes pregnant during a rape ‘that’s something God intended.’ He says some people have twisted the meaning of his comment. […] More than two dozen Indiana Republicans met for the Mourdock fundraiser Ayotte was supposed to headline Wednesday afternoon. Speaking inside the fundraiser hosted by the Indianapolis Women’s Republican Club, state party chairman Eric Holcomb declined comment on Mourdock’s refusal to apologize. ‘I think he covered it,’ Holcomb said.
