NWI Times: “Green did not say what she would be doing differently if she was representing Indiana’s 1st Congressional District”
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today produced the following fact check on Republican Jennifer-Ruth Green’s appearance on Fox News from this week – an interview that was littered with lies and partisan buzzwords. From “election integrity” to the southern border, Green’s hollow interview demonstrated how she has not paid attention to the kitchen-table issues important to Hoosier families in Indiana’s First Congressional District..
What’s worse: Jennifer-Ruth Green provided no vision or plans on what she would do differently if she were representing Hoosiers in Congress.
Here’s what Hoosiers must know: Jennifer-Ruth Green is clueless about what voters in Northwest Indiana care about in this election year — or any year. Indiana’s Republican Governor even applauded President Joe Biden’s economic agenda – proving she has no plan for this campaign – just partisanship..
In contrast, President Joe Biden and Congressman Frank J. Mrvan have a plan to solve the most important issues facing Hoosiers. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan and The Jobs Act, investments in infrastructure, public schools, childcare, and home security will transform the state and create a better future for families in Northwest Indiana. Governor Holcomb endorsed Democrats’ economic agenda, and Hoosiers will learn more about this record throughout the 2022 election year. Democrats will also highlight how the Indiana GOP has no plan for Indiana’s future – just partisanship.
Here’s a fact check of Jennifer Ruth-Green’s Fox News Appearance:
Election Integrity

The Daily Beast: Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) is accused of a number of major campaign-finance violations. The campaign blames it on one particular staffer who it says “vanished.” Not quite.
Gas Prices
Republicans Said “NO” to Pausing State Gas Tax, Saving Hoosiers $126 a Month at the Pump
WOWO: Indiana’s gas tax is 30 cents per gallon and then Hoosiers pay a 7% sales tax on top of that. Suspending both through July 1st would save taxpayers about $300 million. Holcomb says that the measure is not likely, citing “We haven’t hit the threshold.”
WFYI: “Republican legislators have dismissed the idea of suspending those gas taxes.”
Indiana Democrats, President Biden’s Plan to Lower Gas Prices for Hoosiers
WISH-TV: “President Joe Biden on Thursday ordered the strategic petroleum reserve to release 1 million barrels of oil per day for the next six months, or 180 million barrels total. Biden pitched the move as a way to cut gas prices while production ramps up.”
“Dagney Faulk, a Ball State University economist, said, based on current consumption rates, the extra oil could cut the price you pay at the pump by 15 cents to 20 cents per gallon on average.”
WFYI: Sen. Tim Lanane (D-Anderson) said [Democrats] want a three-month suspension of the state gas tax and sales tax on gasoline – which could save people around $12 per fill-up.
Inflation
Indiana Republican Party’s Plans on Combating Inflation – Nothing
HuffPost: “Earlier this month, for example, a group of Republican senators introduced a bill to address rising inflation, which eats into workers’ earnings. The legislation would prohibit the passage of all future bills “that would be estimated to increase inflation until the year-over-year inflation rate drops below 4.5 percent.” In essence, their answer to inflation is to do nothing and wait it out.”
Axios: “McConnell: No legislative agenda for 2022 midterms”
Democrats’ Plan to Combat Inflation
Republicans like U.S. Senator Rob Portman and more than 56 economists agree that Democrats’ economic agenda – including The Jobs Act – will ease the burden current inflationary measures have on families. The Biden Administration also announced plans to strengthen the nation’s supply chains and address key bottlenecks by passing legislation like the COMPETES Act. Every single Indiana Republican in the U.S. House voted “NO” on this opportunity.

Vox: “When President Joe Biden landed in Europe this week, it was a different continent than he had last visited in the fall of 2021. […] And most of all, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has been revived.”
Southern Border
In 2013 – U.S. Senate Passes Immigration Reform, GOP Controlled House Says “NO”
POLITICO: Senate passes immigration bill – (Democrats Voted “YES”)
“The Gang of Eight bill would essentially revamp every corner of U.S. immigration law, establishing a 13-year pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, with several security benchmarks that have to be met before they can obtain a green card. The measure would not only increases security along the border, but requires a mandatory workplace verification system for employers, trying to ensure no jobs are given to immigrants who are not authorized to work in the United States.”
