INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody issued the following statement as Governor Eric Holcomb prepares to meet Vice President Mike Pence.
“As Indiana’s governor, Mike Pence championed the expansion of Medicaid in Indiana. Then-Governor Pence called on lawmakers to consider less-fortunate Hoosiers whose only option for care was the emergency room. Pence assured legislators that HIP 2.0 would become a critical tool in the fight against Indiana’s opioid epidemic. In a 2016 op-ed he penned, Mike Pence said, “Most important, HIP 2.0 is improving the lives of low income Hoosiers every day.” Now, as Vice President, Mike Pence appears to have a case of selective memory and has repeatedly called for the end of HIP 2.0 as we know it. As current Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb prepares to sit down with the Vice President, he should ask just one question: “Mr. Vice President, what has changed?”
