INDIANAPOLIS – Congresswoman Jackie Walorski chose to skip a recent debate for Indiana’s Second District, and her constituents took notice.
Jackie Walorski, though, has been avoiding her constituents and actual campaigning for quite some time. Aside from dodging questions on whether she’d renounce Donald Trump after his lewd comments against women, Walorski simply has refused to debate her campaign opponents.
And now Hoosiers are getting fed up with Walorski’s political calculations.
WSBT: “Republican incumbent Jackie Walorski wasn’t there. A podium was ready for her just in case she changed her mind about attending, but Walorski declined the debate back in September, according to the debate organizer with Indiana University South Bend.”
WNDU: “…Walorski’s absence discussed at congressional debate”
“Present in the minds of voters was the absence of Rep. Jackie Walorski (R), who declined to participate in the Tuesday debate.
‘The most important thing was who was missing, and that was Congresswoman Jackie Walorski,” said Tony Flora, a St. Joseph County voter. ‘I am astounded that she doesn’t want to appear before constituents, people in her district, people who are voters to hear about what she sees Congress has to do in the next years, and what her response is to the people running against her.’”
Emily Bencsics agreed. ‘I think when you are running for Congress, and you should show up to debates in your district, and of course, I am referring to Walorski. She should be here, and she chose not to,’ said Bencsics. ‘I think that speak volumes, and it’s not positive.’”
South Bend Tribune: “2nd District debate draws 2 of 3 candidates, Coleman notes Walorski missed event at IUSB”
“Coleman has been hammering away at Walorski over the past couple of weeks since she turned down invitations to debate him in public or on television in South Bend, Elkhart and Rochester.”
Second Congressional Debate held on October 11, 2016
