ICYMI: Not a single Indiana Republican voted to support the American Rescue Plan, despite touting its dollars in the media and at the statehouse
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today announced the creation of a resource geared at helping Hoosiers learn more about the direct impact President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan is having on their community, their county, and the state of Indiana. The website, “The American Rescue Plan: How It Benefits You”, will fight back against the Indiana Republican Party’s misinformation about the Rescue Plan while also bridging the gap voters have about the law itself.
According to recent polling, rural Hoosiers have heard the least about the Rescue Plan and what it delivers for Indiana. This means they are less likely to have heard about the $5.8 billion in relief for Indiana’s cities and towns, the $250 million in broadband expansion projects, and the $2 billion being used to keep our kids safe in the classrooms. This website and the Party’s commitment to campaign in all of Indiana’s 92 counties will help solve this temporary issue.
New INDems website: “The American Rescue Plan: How It Benefits You”
“The American Rescue Plan is hugely popular with Hoosiers. It’s delivering much-needed relief to our families, workers, and communities while also putting COVID-19 in the rearview mirror. This good news is sadly rare in today’s politics, and it’s why Indiana Democrats are set to go on offense by delivering this information directly to Hoosier families in the communities they call home,” said Lauren Ganapini, executive director for the Indiana Democratic Party. “Partnerships between state and federal leaders must be celebrated, because policies like the Rescue Plan are helping Indiana build back better so that our families and children can have a better future. Democrats are confident this kind of responsible government will trump the Republicans’ extreme partisanship, and we’re ready to do the work to make this happen.”
In contrast, the Indiana Republican Party doubled down on its extreme partisanship by voting “no” on the American Rescue Plan last March. In fact, despite accepting the cash and promoting popular policies of the relief package – Republicans like U.S. Senator Mike Braun are actively rooting against the success of the law and Indiana’s recovery from COVID-19. Hoosiers should expect nothing less from the INGOP, because it’s become clear they are struggling with an identity crisis and would rather base their agenda on a partisan litmus test aimed to appeal to an unpopular, out-of-office, one-term president. This crusade by Indiana Republicans is rooted in misinformation, is wasting taxpayer dollars, and is hurting our families’ future in the process.
