INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement from Chair Mike Schmuhl on the candidacy of Danny Lopez for State House District 39:
“Danny Lopez has put his party ahead of doing the right thing every time. He was one of the biggest cheerleaders of Mike Pence’s administration, serving as Assistant to the Governor as he gutted funding for public education, gave millions in handouts to special interests, and increased Indiana’s restrictions on women’s healthcare freedom.
“When RFRA was passed by Pence and cost our state billions in lost revenue, Danny stayed silent. Was RFRA and the damage it did to our state just another example of “Republican common sense principles” to Danny?
“This is not the type of leadership that Carmel should expect from its next state representative. The last thing Hamilton County needs is an extreme partisan like Lopez who puts his own party ahead of the community. Next year, Carmel voters can send Matt McNally to the Statehouse instead. Matt is a champion of working families, and is standing up for the future of Carmel’s amazing school system in the face of Republican cuts to public education and right-wing extremist groups like Moms For Liberty.”
