INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for Hoosiers, their families and workers, today released the following statement on the visit of Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan’s upcoming visit to speak to the Hamilton County Republican Party on April 10:
“Jim Jordan is a dangerous extremist. As a member of Congress from Ohio, he promotes wild conspiracy theories, attacks school board members and educators, and wants to defund law enforcement agencies. Instead of building bridges, Indiana Republicans are running to the political fringe by inviting Jordan to speak in Hamilton County.
Jordan, along with Rep. Jim Banks led efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Jordan admitted to sending text messages to government officials that Vice President Mike Pence could and should reject the will of the people when certifying the vote. Jordan spearheaded efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, a set of popular policies that have allowed millions of Americans access to healthcare, including those with pre-existing conditions.
Jordan and Banks are staunchly opposed to women’s rights and gay rights. Last year, when a 10 year-old came to Indiana to receive life-saving abortion care, Jordan falsely claimed the story was fabricated. Jordan still advocates for the overturn of same sex marriage laws, despite overwhelming support for the right to marry across the United States.
Hamilton County voters know extreme politics when they see it. It’s why the county is one of the fastest-trending toward Democrats in the entire country. Jordan’s visit to Noblesville shows the IN GOP is putting the radical right first and the lives and futures of Hoosiers last.”
