INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today issued the following statement by Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Mike Schmuhl after President Joe Biden announced a bipartisan deal that uses the proposed American Jobs Plan to help Indiana revitalize and rebuild its infrastructure system:
“President Joe Biden promised Hoosiers at the start of the year that he would give it to us straight, do everything possible to unite the nation, and deliver common-sense solutions that will build a better tomorrow for our families and the communities we call home. Yesterday’s announcement of a bipartisan infrastructure deal is a promise kept by President Biden, and it will surely build on the investments made by the American Rescue Plan — including more than $250 million in broadband investments and $500 million in construction projects passed by a bipartisan margin at the Indiana General Assembly.
President Joe Biden and Indiana Democrats are proving to Hoosiers what a good-faith, honest government looks like again. Bipartisanship and the willingness to form partnerships between federal and state governments is how we unite Indiana and the nation, and it’s how we create a better future for Hoosier families who desperately want to see their roads and bridges repaired and gain broadband internet access. Finally, it goes without saying: President Biden and the Indiana Democratic Party are delivering for Indiana and its families. We did it with the American Rescue Plan, we’re doing it for the American Jobs Plan, and nothing will stop us from fighting for the ideas and values that we know will make Indiana the place for people to call home.” – Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party
