INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today issued the following statement by Chairman Mike Schmuhl in response to Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch’s gubernatorial campaign announcement:
“Suzanne Crouch spent eight years promising to take Indiana to the ‘Next Level’, but like the rest of her Indiana Republican Party, she has failed to create a better future for Hoosier families and workers across Indiana.
Hoosiers have an F-rated quality-of-life and Indiana has a D- rated workforce, a C- rated education system, the most polluted waterways in the nation, and the third worst maternal mortality rate in the country. This all happened under Crouch’s watch and Indiana’s future is dimmed as a result.
Additionally, Crouch has shown that she has no problem supporting her Party’s extremist agenda. Let’s not forget Crouch cast the tie-breaking vote to require survivors of rape or incest to have their affidavits notarized before getting a legal and safe abortion. There’s little evidence to believe Crouch would actually put a stop to this extreme level of politics.
Hoosiers cannot afford another four more years of the status quo, because the status quo is currently putting families further and further behind the rest of the nation. It’s time to weed the garden after 20 years of Republican control, and Suzanne Crouch simply fails the test.”
