INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today released the following statement in response to the Indiana General Assembly amending Senate Bill 353 by removing provisions that would’ve confused and intimidated voters from participating in Indiana’s free and fair elections:
“Indiana Democrats are pleased to learn Senate Bill 353’s confusing and intimidating absentee requirements have been removed, and it was the public’s testimony and advocacy by Democrats that helped protect the voting rights of many Hoosiers. However, this week’s committee hearing was yet again another example of this Indiana Republican Party putting their senseless partisanship ahead of common-sense. When will the Republicans’ political crusade end? Hoosiers are tired of the misinformation and conspiracy theories and want responsible action. Indiana Democrats agree and are ready to get to work and solve today’s problems facing the state – and politics will not get in the way of delivering for Hoosier families.” – Lauren Ganapini, executive director for the Indiana Democratic Party
