INGOP email on September 7: “California needs our help to remove the worst Governor in America – Gavin Newsom.”
September 14: Gavin Newsom survives recall as Indiana continues to live through its “darkest time” during pandemic
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today called on the Indiana Republican Party to stick to Hoosier politics after the Republicans wasted their time and resources on a nationalized partisan effort that did nothing to help solve the COVID-19 pandemic in the Hoosier State. Instead of waging a statewide vaccine campaign or holding a media briefing about Indiana’s strategy out of the pandemic, Indiana Republicans wasted their time with another senseless culture war that only divides voters and communities. So Democrats say this to the INGOP: stop horsing around and start getting serious about protecting Hoosier families from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indiana Democrats remember when the INGOP used to attack Democratic leaders for their pretend ties to coastal Americans. The Republicans’ sudden shift in philosophy continues to show an INGOP who has lost its identity and values a form of extreme partisanship that harms the future of Indiana and its families. This includes the Republicans’ failure on the COVID-19 pandemic where Governor Holcomb’s inaction has led to a surge in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths – creating what his own health department describes as the “darkest time” for Hoosier families.
If California means that much to Indiana Republicans, Democrats suggest they move out West. Meanwhile, Democrats will continue to deliver better opportunities for Hoosier families in all 92 counties. The American Rescue Plan was the start, but the upcoming American Jobs Plan will continue the Democrats’ track record of creating a better future for all Hoosiers.
