ICYMI: Indiana GOP – including Larry Bucshon – voted “NO” on Joe Biden’s $1.5 Million Investment for Tell City, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today celebrated the return of Secretary Pete Buttigieg to the Hoosier State as he’s scheduled to tout how the President Joe Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (The Jobs Act) will provide $1.5 million to revitalize Tell City’s port infrastructure system. Buttigieg will also make the case on how The Jobs Act and overall economic agenda by Democrats is delivering for rural communities across the nation – including for Indiana’s rural communities.
Not one Indiana Republican in the state’s Congressional delegation supported The Jobs Act – including U.S. Congressman Larry Bucshon. In fact, politicians like Bucshon called this port investment part of a “wave of socialism”. Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer even said opposing infrastructure investments were a “great campaign to run on”. The Indiana GOP has no plan for Indiana’s future – just partisanship.
“It’s always a good day to welcome Secretary Pete Buttigieg ‘back home again to Indiana.’ There’s much to celebrate today, because Indiana Democrats like André Carson and Frank Mrvan delivered a once-in-a-generation investment to our state’s infrastructure, and thanks to The Jobs Act, Tell City’s economy (and all of our Hoosier river towns) will have a brighter future,” said Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party. “Whether it’s combating inflation or investing in rural America, President Joe Biden and Democrats are solving today’s biggest problems facing Hoosier families. Should any Indiana Republican join Secretary Pete Buttigieg, it will be for a photo op because not a single one of them supported Tell City’s infrastructure funding. They let their partisanship come before this brighter future for Perry County.”
In contrast, Indiana Democrats are hard at work delivering the kitchen-table issues most important to Hoosier families. With the American Rescue Plan and The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (The Jobs Act), André Carson, Frank Mrvan, and statehouse Democrats are creating good-paying jobs, supporting Indiana’s law enforcement, funding public education at levels not seen in a decade, expanding broadband access, and revitalizing the state’s infrastructure systems. Democrats are ignoring the Indiana GOP’s partisanship and standing by Hoosiers when it matters most.
