IndyStar: Former VP Mike Pence to headline fundraiser for Diego Morales next month
Indiana Capital Chronicle: “Two longtime former Republicans divulged decade-old allegations of sexual assaults [against Diego Morales] in interview transcripts published this week”
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today called on former Vice President Mike Pence to cancel his scheduled fundraiser with Diego Morales on October 12 following a bombshell report of the secretary of state candidate being accused of sexually assaulting two women. Both women worked with Diego in Republican politics and came forward to share their stories last week.
“Mike Pence should cancel his upcoming fundraiser following the sexual assault allegations made against Diego Morales,” said Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party. “Diego’s alleged conduct is horrible, unacceptable, and follows a disturbing pattern. After twice being fired from the very office he now seeks to lead, misleading the public about his biography, buying a car with campaign donations, and campaigning on an extremist agenda that includes Hoosiers prove their citizenship at the polls, and now this, Diego Morales would only bring dishonor to our state government. Mike Pence knows a thing or two about protecting the honor of an elected office, and he should do the right thing and cancel this fundraising event.”
Since announcing his campaign for Indiana Secretary of State, Diego Morales has been caught misleading Hoosiers about his background, has shady campaign finance practices, has called the last presidential election a “scam”, and has campaigned on an extreme platform that would cut Indiana’s early voting days in half. On top of all of this, he was fired twice from the office he now seeks to lead. Simply put: Diego Morales is unfit to hold any public office.
This is exactly why Destiny Wells is gaining in the polls and will win on November 8. Destiny is a veteran, attorney, and mother who will keep Indiana’s elections safe and secure. She’ll put Indiana’s future – not partisan or personal agendas – first.
