INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement from Chair Mike Schmuhl on Governor Eric Holcomb’s 2024 State of the State Address:
“Tonight, Governor Eric Holcomb gave his final State of the State Address as Indiana Governor. Over the past seven years, we have often disagreed vigorously with the Governor, while working together to find common ground on many issues, including COVID prevention, and new funding to improve public health in every corner of our state. The governor, despite our disagreements, was always more ambitious about the people and future of our state than the Republican supermajority in the statehouse.
“More than ever, we need a governor who will resist the worst urges of the legislature, and build an agenda that includes all Hoosiers. We need a governor who will focus on economic bread and butter issues: childcare, healthcare, education, workforce development, and improved quality of life for every person in Indiana.”
“Over the next year, we will continue to work across party lines to find common ground where possible, and defend the rights and freedoms of Hoosiers where we don’t see eye-to-eye.”
