INDIANAPOLIS — Today, the Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement from Chair Mike Schmuhl on the retirement of Rep. Greg Pence at the end of his current term.
“The wave of Republican retirements in the U.S. House has hit Indiana. Hoosiers, and Americans, have looked on over the past year and seen the immense chaos in Congress. From coming to the brink of a default on our national commitments to having the most rounds of votes to elect a speaker since the 1800s, this Congress has spent its time on partisan theater instead of results for the American people.
“Today marks the end of the Pence era in Indiana politics. Hoosiers deserve leadership that focuses on supporting working families rather than issues that only seek to divide. This year, we can bring back balance to Indiana, create a politics that uplifts working families, and reignite our state’s long tradition of Hoosier hospitality.”
