Today, Indiana Democratic Party Vice Chair Myla Eldridge released the following statement commemorating Women’s History Month:
“Hoosier Democrats celebrate the contributions made by countless women in Indiana and throughout this country. From former U.S. Reps. Julia Carson and Katie Hall to Dr. Jennifer McCormick and our Hoosier women state legislators and mayors, we honor them and their accomplishments this month and every month. Women voters have been responsible for mobilizing and uplifting communities across the state and have played a critical role in moving our country forward. While we’ve made so much progress as a country, this month is also a reminder of how much is on the line for Hoosier women this November. With the threat of another four years of Republican control and healthcare bans on the line, this election could not be any bigger.
“Where Hoosier Democrats are expanding access to health care and taking on prescription drug costs, Republicans want to raise health care costs and rip away coverage from Hoosier women. While President Biden is spurring more jobs and economic opportunities for women, Trump is pushing to gift more tax handouts to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations at the expense of working Hoosiers. As President Biden fights to protect reproductive rights, Donald Trump wants a nationwide abortion ban while bragging about dismantling Roe v. Wade and ripping away reproductive freedoms across the country, including right here in Indiana. The contrast couldn’t be clearer, and Hoosiers know that the only way to keep building on progress is sending President Biden and Vice President Harris to the White House once again.”
Hoosier Democrats are fighting for Hoosier women and working families:
- Indiana Democrats voted to lower insulin costs for seniors to $35 a month, and the private sector followed with Eli Lilly expanding the cost to all its patients.
- Indiana Republicans have been silent after the recent Alabama Supreme Court ruling on IVF treatments. Hoosier Democrats are standing up for the right to start a family.
- In stark contrast, Trump and Indiana Republicans stand with the gun lobby, pushing for more guns in our streets and classrooms, and to give them immunity in court. Hoosier Democrats are making our schools and communities safer from gun violence.
