INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today celebrated yesterday’s announcement by the Indiana Department of Education which detailed the positive impact President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan (ARP) would have on schools across Indiana. According to ARP, close to $2 billion will be sent to help make up student learning gaps that have occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, update facilities to address air quality in classrooms, and improve the health and safety of students and educators in school buildings. Here’s the projected amount each Indiana school will receive via the ARP.
This kind of solution-first approach by President Joe Biden and Indiana Democrats is why close to two out of three Americans – including many Hoosiers – approve of the American Rescue Plan. The relief package did not only bring much-needed aid to Indiana’s schools it also provided $1,400 stimulus checks to 91-percent of Hoosiers and secured nearly $5.8 billion in investments for Indiana and its communities. When Hoosiers elect Democrats, stuff gets done and the American Rescue Plan is just the start.

WFYI: Indiana’s Public Schools To Get $1.8B In Federal Pandemic Recovery
“Indiana’s public schools will receive nearly $1.8 billion to help recover from the pandemic as part of the American Rescue Plan Act, the state announced today. This is the largest ever injection of federal funds to Indiana schools.
At least 20% of the dollars a school district or charter school receives must go toward addressing learning loss during the pandemic, such as offering summer school. These one-time funds can be also used to reimburse certain expenses related to COVID-19 through September 2024, such as physical facility improvements.” […]
“Indiana’s new funds are part of more than $170.3 billion earmarked for education in the American Rescue Plan Act. President Joe Biden recently signed the act into law. In total, it provides $1.9 trillion in federal stimulus dollars mostly to state and local governments to address the pandemic’s impact.
Now, school districts must figure out how to spend these funds on ways to benefit students and increase health and safety at school buildings.”
