INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today pointed out the dismissal the Indiana Republican supermajority at the Statehouse gave Governor Eric Holcomb after he called for Hoosiers to use “personal responsibility” once the state lifted all COVID-19 restrictions across Indiana. In fact, it took less than a day for Statehouse Republicans to ignore the Governor’s pandemic advisories, proving once more that the Indiana Republican Party cares more about partisan theatrics than producing responsible, fact-based solutions during these uncertain times.
The Indiana Democratic Party believes Gov. Holcomb has started to rush Indiana out of the pandemic, even when health experts and economists warned doing so could hurt Indiana’s economy and put more lives at risk. Further, Democrats have remained consistent in its call for all elected officials – regardless of political beliefs – to let science, facts, and common-sense help guide Indiana and Hoosiers out of COVID-19. This is why Congressmen André Carson and Frank Mrvan, Jr. and Democrats supported the American Rescue Plan, which gets more vaccines in Hoosiers’ arms and brings much-needed relief for Indiana and its families.
