Twice in two months, Democrats and workers have packed union halls in Evansville to learn more about how Joe Biden and Democrats are delivering for Hoosier families
The American Jobs Plan: Why Indiana Needs It
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today celebrated the continued success its proactive blitz is having on Evansville and the Ohio River Valley community. Last Saturday, Joe Donnelly (former U.S. Senator) and Mike Schmuhl (Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party) met with more than 100 Hoosiers in Evansville as a part of the Democrats’ American Jobs Plan tour, an effort to highlight why Indiana needs the Jobs Plan and a revitalized infrastructure system. The Jobs Plan tour stop followed an American Rescue Plan tour stop last June where former Indiana Speaker John Gregg shared how Democrats delivered much-needed relief to Evansville and the opportunity for vaccinated Hoosiers to put COVID-19 in the rearview mirror. More than 100 Hoosiers attended the Rescue Plan event.
“The Indiana Democratic Party has traveled more than 4,000 miles across the state to share the news with Hoosiers about how Democrats are delivering solutions to the problems they want solved. The enthusiasm in Vanderburgh County is at levels not seen unless it’s close to Election Day — and we’re in an off year,” said Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party. “The Vanderburgh County Democratic Party continues to go on offense in ways that must be celebrated, because they are creating a foundation of support that’ll not just get Democrats elected to office, but it’ll deliver better opportunities for Hoosier families too.”
Both the American Jobs Plan and the American Rescue Plan are supported by a large majority of American voters. This includes more than 41-percent of Republicans who support the Jobs Plan. In fact, Indiana Republican mayors Jim Brainard (Carmel) and Steve Collier (Lawrence), signed onto a letter earlier this month announcing their support for the bipartisan deal connected with the Jobs Plan.
Under the proposed American Jobs Plan, Indiana will fix its crumbling roads and bridges, take broadband internet expansion to the next level, eliminate childcare deserts for families, strengthen unions via the Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, and secure better health care access for Indiana’s 400,000+ veterans. Hoosiers can learn more about the Jobs Plan by visiting the Indiana Democratic Party’s website: “The American Jobs Plan: Why Indiana Needs It”.
