ICYMI: Despite saying broadband is top issue for Indiana, Senator Mike Braun opposes the American Jobs Plan – which would invest in broadband access for rural Hoosiers
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today criticized Members of the Indiana Republican Party – including U.S. Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young and U.S. Congressmen Jim Banks and Greg Pence – for opposing President Joe Biden’s American Jobs Plan and the opportunity to revitalize Indiana’s infrastructure system. The Indiana Republicans’ opposition is similar to their “no” votes on the widely-praised American Rescue Plan and continues a pattern of extreme partisanship and a refusal to get things done for Indiana and its families.
Braun, Pence, Young, and other Indiana Republicans’ opposition to the plan simply goes against the wishes of their Hoosier constituents. Just like the American Rescue Plan, a bipartisan majority of voters – including Republicans – support the Democrats’ policy plans to create good union jobs, rebuild the state’s aging roads and bridges, and set up the United States to outcompete China in the future. The American Jobs Plan is a win-win for Indiana, and the GOP’s partisanship further proves why Hoosiers just cannot trust them to implement responsible government.

Even with what he does know about the plan, it’s not something he can get behind.
‘We should have done an infrastructure bill last summer when people needed the jobs, we should have done it two years ago when I first got on that committee,’ Pence said.”

“Recently President Biden proposed a 2.2 trillion-dollar infrastructure plan. Braun says that for a bill bases on the president’s plan to pass with bipartisan support, it needs to focus on traditional infrastructures like roads and bridges.
‘When you throw valid long-term investments like water and sewage treatment plants, rural broadband, and even stretch to elderly housing that’s taking it beyond what we normally talk about in infrastructure,’ said Senator Braun.”
WIBC: BANKS SAYS MIDDLE CLASS WILL STILL FEEL BRUNT OF TAX HIKES IN INFRASTRUCTURE BILL
“President Biden is insisting that middle-class workers throughout the U.S. will not be taxed in order to pay for a multi-trillion-dollar infrastructure bill.
The bill would instead raise corporate tax rates on businesses from 21-percent to 28-percent. Indiana Congressman Jim Banks (R) told Hugh Hewitt on his podcast that it doesn’t matter which tax you raise, it will still be American workers that will be hurt the most by the bill.”
