Rep. Braun repeatedly claims to only do business in America while failing to disclose reliance on foreign manufacturing
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party is releasing a new video today that highlights Rep. Braun’s pattern of lying to Hoosiers about his business being “made in America” while failing to disclose that his company manufactures and sells auto parts from China.
On Friday, the Associated Press reported that Promaxx Automotive, a brand of Rep. Braun’s own company, sells its own line of auto parts that are primarily made in China. The report made clear that Rep. Braun has been lying when he has claimed that his business is “made in America” and that it was “never involved in anything overseas” other than some third-party distributors.
Today’s new video highlights Rep. Braun’s repeated false claims about his business, including saying that his company was “never involved in anything overseas” and has “no Chinese suppliers,” even though the AP reported that his own company makes and sells auto parts made in China. Rep. Braun also claims that “ninety-five percent of [his] suppliers are American,” when in fact, 30% of his third-party suppliers are either foreign-headquartered or manufacture their products abroad.
As one of the largest auto manufacturing states in the country, Rep. Braun has yet to give a reason for why he chose to manufacture his parts in China and do business with foreign suppliers, when he easily could have gotten those parts made in Indiana.
“Rep. Braun has staked his Senate bid on the lie that his business is “made in America.” He’s repeated that lie again and again while failing to disclose his immense profits from Chinese labor at the expense of Hoosier workers,” said Michael Feldman, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “It’s clear from Rep. Braun’s decision to lie to Hoosiers instead of owning up to the fact that he profits from Chinese-made auto parts that he’s willing to say whatever it takes to get elected, no matter how insulting it is to the people he hopes to represent.”
