A new video today from the Indiana Democratic Party reminds Rep. Braun that before he can win over Hoosier voters, he first must tackle the members of his own party who are skeptical or outright hostile towards his candidacy– including his two former opponents.
“The GOP’s nastiest Senate primary” may be over, but the year of attacks thrown at Rep. Braun by Congressmen Rokita and Messer are still fresh in Hoosiers’ minds. Today’s video uses Congressmen Messer’s and Rokita’s own words to remind Hoosier viewers of the doubts that members of his own party have had about Rep. Braun over the last year. “Why should Hoosiers elect Rep. Mike Braun,” the video asks, “when Republicans have this to say about him?”
“After winning a scorched-earth primary, Rep. Braun needs to win over members of his own party before he’ll be able to go after the independent voters who’ll decide this election,” said Michael Feldman, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “Today’s video is a reminder that Rep. Braun’s habit of burning bridges and raising taxes didn’t earn the trust of Hoosier Republican voters, with nearly 60 percent deciding to vote for another candidate. After learning about his history of putting himself and his wallet first and Hoosiers last, there’s no reason for voters to start trusting him now.”
