Today, the U.S. House will vote on extending ACA enhanced premium tax credits for three years, which congressional Republicans let expire on December 31, 2025.
Because Republicans refused to extend these credits, over 300,000 Hoosiers are seeing their health care premiums double or even triple. Indiana Democrats are working to ensure every Hoosier has access to affordable health care, but Donald Trump and Indiana Republicans have so far refused to extend these credits resulting in higher health costs for working families.
Indiana Democratic Party Chair Karen Tallian is calling on GOP Reps. Rudy Yakym, Marlin Stutzman, Jim Baird, Victoria Spartz, Jefferson Shreve, Mark Messmer and Erin Houchin to join Democrats in supporting the extension of these subsidies.
“Republicans have total control of the government right now – there’s no one else to blame for skyrocketing healthcare costs,” said Tallian. “It’s time for Indiana’s Republican members of Congress to come to their senses. Hoosiers are sick of partisan games. They already can’t afford their living expenses and the affordability crisis is only getting worse on the GOP’s watch. Indiana Democratic Reps. André Carson and Frank Mrvan are answering the call and ready to pass an extension of these healthcare subsidies. Let’s hope the rest of Indiana’s congressional delegation has the sense to join them.”
