ICYMI: “[State Senator Scott Baldwin] is facing criticism for saying teachers must be impartial when discussing Nazism is walking back his remarks.”
Don’t Forget: Kyle Hupfer, INGOP Refuse to Condemn Domestic Terrorists, Nazi Flag
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today criticized the Indiana Republican Party for showing sympathy to Nazism and other forms of extremism in our state. This includes one of the Republicans’ elected leaders, State Senator Scott Baldwin, who said educators must be impartial when teaching Nazism. Baldwin’s white supremacist views followed a bombshell report last year revealing the Senator once had an “annual membership” to the Oath Keepers, the domestic terrorist group responsible for the Insurrection against the United States of America.
Indiana Democrats continue to repeat one simple request for the Indiana Republican Party: condemn Nazism, the Oath Keepers, and the rise of extremism across Indiana. So far, Republicans have remained silent on these incidents. When a Republican voter flew a Nazi flag outisde the town of Macy last year, Governor Eric Holcomb and Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer said nothing. And when Senator Baldwin was found connected to the Oath Keepers, they also issued no comment. The Republicans’ strategy to show sympathy to white supremacy reveals the Indiana Republican Party as an organization that values un-American extremism over democracy and creating a better future for Hoosier families.
