INDIANAPOLIS – Rep. Braun has begun simply refusing to answer questions about his position on pre-existing conditions after lying again and again about where he stands on pre-existing conditions and the ongoing lawsuit to remove them.
A story from WTHR last week set out to clarify where both Joe Donnelly and Rep. Braun stand on protecting pre-existing conditions. While Joe made clear he supports the existing health care laws that protect the more than 1.1 million Hoosiers under 65 with a pre-existing condition, Rep. Braun once again failed to denounce the ongoing Department of Justice lawsuit expressly designed to dismantle those protections or to provide a real plan he supports that would retain them. When WTHR tried to follow up and ask him about his support for the lawsuit, Rep. Braun dodged the question instead of lying about his position, as he has done in the past.
Hoosiers are growing tired of Rep. Braun’s hypocrisy on pre-existing conditions, and they’re taking it upon themselves to try and get a straight answer from him. As one concerned Hoosier protesting outside his campaign event last week said, “we don’t understand how [Rep. Braun] can be both” for covering those protections while simultaneously supporting the lawsuit that aims to take them away. They weren’t able to get any clarification from WTHR, who was told “he didn’t have time for questions.”
“Hoosiers worried about their health care just want answers from Rep. Braun about why he’s supporting the lawsuit that seeks to eliminate protections for pre-existing conditions. He’s apparently grown so tired of lying to voters about his health care stances that he’s begun to simply ignore their questions,” said Michael Feldman, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “Hoosiers with asthma, diabetes, or a history of cancer can’t trust Rep. Braun with their health care, and if he thinks he can refuse to answer their questions about his nonsensical positions for two more weeks, he’s in for a rude awakening.”
